What's included in the free version, and what requires a paid plan?

The free version, available on WordPress.org, includes a drag-and-drop builder, unlimited forms, 22 base field types, conditional logic, generic webhooks, email notifications, a 3-layer anti-spam system, and submission storage with CSV export, plus all 168 form templates. Paid plans add AI form generation, AI submission analysis, Stripe payments, conversational (Typeform-style) mode, multi-step forms, the advanced field types such as payment and calculation fields, form analytics, and branded integrations like Slack, Mailchimp, Google Sheets, and HubSpot. Paid plans start at $54/year.

Do I need my own OpenAI or Claude API key to use the AI form generator?

No. By default, AI form generation and AI submission analysis run through Form Forge's own managed backend included with your license, so there is no external API key to sign up for or pay separately. A one-time bonus of 100 AI credits comes with first activation, and additional credit packs can be purchased anytime if you need more. Advanced users can optionally connect their own OpenAI or Claude API key in Settings instead, though this is not required.

Can I migrate my existing forms from WPForms, Gravity Forms, Contact Form 7, or Ninja Forms?

Yes. Form Forge includes one-click migrators for these four plugins that convert your existing forms, fields, and settings automatically. Submission history import depends on the source plugin: Gravity Forms active entries and Ninja Forms free or legacy entries can be imported, while Contact Form 7 and WPForms Lite do not store entries by default, so there is nothing to migrate there. Third-party add-on settings, such as payment gateways or CRM connections, should be reconfigured using Form Forge's native integrations after migration.

Does Form Forge support online payments?

Yes. Paid plans include a Stripe payment field that adds PCI-compliant credit card collection directly to your form, using your own Stripe account and keys so payments go straight to you. It is built on Stripe's PaymentIntent API, including 3D Secure support, and a declined card stops the submission from completing rather than saving an incomplete order. Stripe payments are not available on the free version.

How does Form Forge protect my forms from spam?

Every form, including on the free version, is protected by three automatic layers that need no configuration: a hidden honeypot field, a minimum-time check that rejects submissions completed too quickly, and CSRF token validation. Paid plans can add Google reCAPTCHA v3 for a fourth, invisible layer with an adjustable sensitivity threshold. reCAPTCHA runs silently in the background and never shows visitors a challenge or checkbox.

What happens to my forms and submissions if my subscription lapses?

Nothing is deleted. Your forms and all previously collected submissions remain in your WordPress database. Free-tier features such as file upload, conditional logic, and generic webhooks keep working, but Pro-only fields and features, like AI generation, Stripe payments, multi-step forms, and branded integrations, stop functioning on the live form until you renew. Everything resumes automatically once the license is renewed.
